We explore the science and psychology of play and how you can enrich STEAM education.
Giving you the tools to imagine, build, and run amazing STEAM learning for your students

  • Priority Area:  Delivery and assessment of the EYLF
(applies to Australian early learning teachers)
  • Mapping: NQS, EYLF, APST
(applies to Australian early learning teachers)
  • Estimated Hours: 10+ hours of learning
  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Course Duration: Self Paced

Your Challenge

Though our nation expects you (teachers) to support STEAM education, they give you few resources and virtually no training.
We are here to help you!
Some teachers are reluctant to dive into the world of STEAM for these reasons.

  • you're not sure where to start
  • you didn't do well in science at school
  • you may think you need expensive resources
  • you may think you're not smart enough to tackle STEAM education

The Solution

This course is designed with the teacher (You) in mind.
We take the soft approach to teaching STEAM.
The only thing we expect you to know is children!

Before tackling STEAM its important to know (or refresh on) the basics of human interactivity and learning.
In the lesson Creative Fire you will learn about the science and psychology of fun, and raise your creativity!
Next, the lesson Control is all about using cause & effect as a way to learn logic and develop a new skill.
We unpack human interactivity and skill learning and wrap up these topics of fun and control into one single idea called play.

In the lesson Unlock Nature you will learn some deep knowledge about scientific investigation, and how to apply it in your learning environment. Finally, the lesson called Programming Power is all about Holistic Thinking in educational program (planning)
We prove that everything is connected, and make effective use of a word generator to make amazing learning connections.

What you learn comes from the fields of
  • engineering
  • entertainment
  • computer science
  • logistics
  • physics

This course will raise your STEAM awareness and improve the quality of your planning and teaching.

STEAM Through Play: Practical Planning and Application for Early Years
is suitable for early childhood teachers who would like to gain more knowledge of experiences for children in fun and challenging ways.

STEAM Through Play: Practical Planning and Application for Early Years
highlighted the importance of observing children's motivational levels, it made me reflect on my practices and teaching also ensuring the 'fun' part is integral to lessons and when children show joy, happiness, humour and fun it makes me feel great as I know they are interested and will be motivated and enthusiastic for longer periods of time, requesting to redo the activity more than once .
